InstallFree announces official support for virtualizing Office 2010

InstallFree has now added support for virtualizing Office 2010, as well as the availability of a full virtualization recipe on our customer support portal. Here are some of the key benefits of using our virtualization technology with Office 2010:

• Fully separated and stateful user data. Users always have access to their persistent settings even when working in generally stateless environments such as Terminal Services, XenApp or shared-image VDI.
• Full support for physical or virtual Office 2010 GPOs. You can configure your virtual instance of Office to read group policies from the native environment, or assign virtual GPOs using the InstallFree Management Console. This allows you to utilize a single package for deploying Office in multiple usage scenarios.
• Full support for Office add-ins. You can separately package any Office add-in and then deliver it to the right users, all without modifying your core Office 2010 package. You can even allow users to provision their own add-ins using InstallFree Self Provisioning.
• Straightforward encapsulation using the InstallFree Encapsulator.

Cameyo Launches Unique Community Platform for Virtual Applications

Cameyo, the popular application virtualization provider, is launching a new platform for using and sharing free virtual applications, more easily than ever before.

The community platform, named Cameyo Online Library, is tightly integrated with Cameyo’s Online Packaging service. Every day, it automatically finds and adds free applications that can be safely used and shared. The library then leverages users’ feedback to filter out applications that do not virtualize properly. The packaged applications can be download and used very simply, while keeping one’s computer isolated and unaffected by these virtual applications.

Addressing the pain points of virtual applications:
Virtual applications, while extremely easy to deploy, use and remove, have two major drawbacks. First, they require time and efforts to build (“package”). Secondly, they are not guaranteed to function properly. Cameyo’s Online Library effectively solves these issues through innovative technology.

Cameyo’s Online Library automatically detects popular free applications. It then uses the Cameyo Online Packaging platform, and adds the resulting virtual packages into the library. Cameyo releases worlds first ever online builder of Portable Apps

Cameyo today announces availability of the world's first online virtual application packager, capable of building virtual applications online, without human intervention.

Packaging virtual applications (also called portable apps) used to be a tedious process, involving the preparation of a clean environment, preparation of system snapshots, installation of the software to package etc. Not anymore! Thanks to the new Cameyo Online platform, Internet users can simply submit applications and receive their virtual equivalent in return, in just a few minutes.

From now on, users can easily generate a portable version of almost any application, provided that it can be virtualized and supports silent installation mode.
Cameyo Online works using a combination of intelligent installer recognition, installation analysis, and virtual cloud infrastructure.

"We're aware that the online packager is not perfect yet, nor does it work for 100% of applications, but we do believe this is a very big step in this field", says author Cameyoco.

Once packaged, users receive an email allowing them to download and use the application in different modes, depending on how much isolation they want between the application and the underlying system. Users can even edit their virtual app online, and hence customize their app's basic settings. More advanced configuration can be made using the regular Cameyo client.
