ALPHARETTA, Ga. and LAS VEGAS, Nev. – VMware Partner Exchange – Feb. 8, 2010 - - Liquidware Labs, the leader in Assessment and User Experience Management for virtual desktops, today announced the availability of Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities in Liquidware Labs Stratusphere v4.5.4.

The new functionality builds on Liquidware Labs’ already comprehensive approach to working with partners and organizations to assess and migrate companies to their next generation desktop strategy, including locally hosted or cloud-based VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop virtual machines.

Stratusphere’s Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities gathers complete data and usage metrics for existing installed applications in order to determine their fitness and complexity for application virtualization. The solution delivers the information in easily understood, yet comprehensive, inventory, resource requirement, and usage reports that give administrators and management the exact information needed for decisions involving application virtualization and planning for solutions such as VMware ThinApp, Citrix XenApp, and Microsoft App-V.

“We’re executing on our mission to be the de facto solution before, during, and after companies embark on virtual desktop and application strategies,” said Tyler Rohrer, COO and founder of Liquidware Labs. “Stratusphere provides the visibility needed to make informed architecture, and vendor choices, and assist them with the on-ramp for optimum workload placement, and application delivery methods. People use applications, not machines.”

Stratusphere’s Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities track and assess application data at several levels by first capturing a complete application inventory of assessed desktops, including laptops that are used offline. The solution then obtains detailed information on each application critical to determining its fitness and complexity for application virtualization including:

•Executable size
•System services installed and used per application
•Device drivers installed per application
•Total number of application users
•Average launch delay (application load time)
•Application usage (total and average time)
•Application resource requirements (total and average CPU, memory, IO)
•Application Graphics Intensity

Once the above metrics have been gathered, Stratusphere correlates the data and offers it to users in the form of a new One-Click Application Virtualization Target report that categorizes applications into Low, Medium, and High Complexity target groups. Detailed application inventory reports are also available that can be filtered by user groups (from AD/LDAP) or machine groups (locations, machine types).

New feature seamlessly migrates user documents for VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop, Microsoft Windows 7 deployments

Alpharetta, Ga – November 18, 2009 - Liquidware Labs, the leader in Assessment and User Experience Management for next generation desktops, today announced the availability of Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity v4.5 with exclusive user data synchronization capabilities to migrate desktop documents and data, enabling organizations to further speed adoption and ease management of new desktop technologies such as VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop, and Microsoft Windows 7.

ProfileUnity Pro provides comprehensive user profile management and configures user settings during logon. The new background block-level data synchronization feature in v4.5 enables user data (documents, files, etc.) to be harvested from existing Windows desktops by synching the data to a central data store where it can then be accessed on-demand from the user’s existing and next generation desktop, regardless of architecture — VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop, or a physical Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 PC.

Data is migrated in the background using block-level transfer during a user’s session through a centrally managed folder redirection and synchronization module in ProfileUnity Pro. File migration can be optimized through a built-in throttling feature that ensures that network traffic is not affected. The new user data synchronization feature is especially useful in invoking best practices for desktop data storage, speeding the adoption of next generation desktops, and as part of a comprehensive desktop disaster recovery plan. Data is also made available to laptops through offline folders. The solution runs with zero touch and there is no software to install or manage on each desktop.

Other new features in ProfileUnity Pro v4.5 include enhanced ease-of-use features and installation as part of the Liquidware Labs Stratusphere virtual appliance. The virtual appliance installs quickly into any environment, and also includes access to Liquidware Labs Stratusphere Assessment and User Experience diagnostics solutions (licensed separately).

“Organization’s are encountering many challenges in actually moving user data to new desktop technologies such as Windows 7 and VDI solutions from VMware and Citrix,” said Jason E. Smith, VP of Marketing for Liquidware Labs. “Data that resides on existing desktops is all too often ignored or poorly migrated during transitions. ProfileUnity Pro v4.5 removes this challenge by automating the process and ensuring that mission critical data is properly synchronized, according to best-practices, on a network store where it can accessed by the user with any existing or new desktop in the future.”

Innovative solution harvests user profiles from Windows XP and populates Windows 7 from day one

Alpharetta, Ga – Liquidware Labs Inc. (LWL), the leader in User Experience Management for next generation desktops, today announced immediate availability of enterprise scale Microsoft Windows 7® migration support in Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity.

With Microsoft’s launch of Windows 7 this month many organizations are grappling with the challenge of getting existing enterprise desktop data from Windows XP to Windows 7. With so many unfocused, confusing, or inconsistent options for migration in the market today, ProfileUnity provides an intuitive solution with consistent and reliable results to the user and data migration problem facing the industry.  ProfileUnity seamlessly harvests native Windows user personalization data, email, and documents from Windows 2000 and XP and places it in Windows 7, all with zero end-user touch.

ProfileUnity Windows 7 Migration benefits include:

  • Windows native format – User profiles and data remain in Window’s native format.  No additional Windows shell environment is needed.
  • Granular control – Administrators can control which portion of the user’s profile is migrated.
  • Optional management after migration – ProfileUnity can be removed from the environment or left as a powerful management tool to manage and make profiles portable to other Windows desktops.
  • Compatibility – ProfileUnity supports heterogeneous Windows environments with profile portability after migration. Users can log onto any Windows desktop OS post migration;  XP, 2000, Windows 7, VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop, etc., and their profile is instantly made available.
  • Application-level settings migration – ProfileUnity ports popular application-level settings data to the new environment while keeping it backward compatible. Seamlessly upgrade users from Office 2003/XP to Office 2007 and retain custom application-level settings including MAPI profiles and Outlook signatures.
  • Low impact – ProfileUnity requires no agent in the OS — before or after migration.  Users simply login to their new machine and user settings are quickly obtained.

Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity

LWL delivers additional User Experience Management solutions that are also integral to organizations migrating to Windows 7. Liquidware Labs Stratusphere boasts comprehensive assessment fitness rating features that provide data to right-size an organization’s desktop infrastructure for its next generation desktop such as Windows 7, VMware View, or Citrix XenDesktop. Stratusphere’s UX (User Experience) features deliver powerful metrics and help desk alerts that ensure users are receiving the best possible desktop at any point in time — before, during, or after a migration.

“Organizations have waited for the stability that Windows 7 offers Microsoft desktops,” said Jason E. Smith, vice president product marketing, LWL. “What our sales channel and customer base are finding is that Microsoft is leaving the decision as to which data migration strategy to use up to the administrator, and there are so many products that address only part of the challenge of migrating users to Windows 7. ProfileUnity is a zero end-user touch migration solution that harvests data from the current environment, stores it to a network share, and pulls it in instantly upon logon to a new machine. This innovative approach to profile migration, management, and portability is resonating with customers.”
