With the recent merger of Citrix and Tibco, now Cloud Software Group, re-embracing the Citrix NetScaler name is the next step on their journey of continual innovation.

New Company, New NetScaler

The acquisition of Citrix by a private company gives Citrix the opportunity to focus on doing what’s best for their customers. We plan to invest more into NetScaler, which includes enhancing the integration with Citrix VDI and DaaS solutions as well as continuing to develop the functionality that their traditional NetScaler customers need to modernize their IT. Citrix has even launched a new Developer forum where users can get help on how to modernize their IT with Citrix NetScaler. Citrix acquired way back in 2005 but recently re-branded as “Citrix ADC”.

Citrix NetScaler is an advanced cloud network platform and leading web/application delivery controller that maximizes the performance and availability of all applications and data, while also providing secure remote access to any application from any device type. The NetScaler product line optimizes delivery of applications over the internet and private networks, combining application-level security, optimization, and traffic management into a single, integrated appliance. A Citrix NetScaler appliance can be integrated into any network as a complement to existing load balancers, servers, caches, and firewalls. It requires no additional client or server side software, and can be configured using the NetScaler web-based GUI and CLI configuration utilities.

Citrix Netscaler is an application delivery controller that analyses application-specific traffic to distribute, optimize, and secure Layer 4-Layer 7 (L4–L7) network traffic intelligently for web applications. The ADC features can be broadly classified into switching, security and protection, server-farm optimization, and global server load balancing (GSLB).
