OpenShift Container Platform 4.11 is out

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.11, based on Kubernetes 1.24 and CRI-O 1.24 runtime interface, is designed to make it easier to consume enterprise Kubernetes however and wherever needed across the open hybrid cloud.

OpenShift Container Platform 4.11 has a number of exciting new enhancements and features. Some of the highlights in this release include:

  • You can purchase and deploy OpenShift from AWS and Azure marketplaces for greater flexibility in how you choose to run OpenShift
  • Support for full stack automation (IPI) deployments on Nutanix AOS – OpenShift Container Platform 4.11 introduces support for installing a cluster on Nutanix using installer-provisioned infrastructure. This type of installation lets you use the installation program to deploy a cluster on infrastructure that the installation program provisions and the cluster maintains.

  • RHEL 9.0 support
  • Hosted Control Planes (Technology Preview) enable you to host clusters at scale to reduce management costs, optimize cluster deployment time, and separate management and workload concerns.
  • The External DNS Operator provides the name resolution for services and routes from the external DNS provider. In this release, this operator is available for AWS Route53, Azure DNS, GCP DNS, and Infoblox in General Availability (GA) status.
  • You can disable the installation of the baremetal and marketplace Operators, and the openshift-samples content that is stored in the openshift namespace.
  • The FedRAMP high SCAP profile is now available for use in OpenShift Container Platform environments.
  • Disconnected Mirroring Workflow, using the oc-mirror OpenShift CLI (oc) plug-in to mirror images in a disconnected environment, is now generally available.
