In keeping with its commitment of its vision of “Receiver Everywhere”, Citrix just announced the Technology Preview of its first Receiver for Chrome OS!

With more than a billion devices supported on Citrix Receiver, Citrix is further extending its leadership in empowering users to seamlessly interact with all their corporate desktops, apps and data on any device, gives users ubiquitous access to their “personal cloud”. Today, Citrix is delivering its ongoing commitment to enable the largest number of devices by adding to its existing repertoire of Receiver developed for widely popular mobility products like the iPad, iPhone, HP TouchPad and Android smartphones to now include the Google Chromebook.

The Tech Preview version of Receiver for Chrome OS, available from Google’s Chrome Web Store enables Chromebook users to get access to their corporate data, applications and desktops from their virtualized XenApp and XenDesktop environments. This version is compatible with virtualized environments running XenApp 5.x and XenDesktop 5.x versions. In keeping with the vision of ensuring a consistent user experience across all devices, Receiver for Chrome OS has an UI that is coherent with the latest versions of the all Receivers available today. Receiver for Chrome OS is introducing its first generation of the HTML 5.0 engine and is currently recommended for common day-to-day business applications. This Receiver also serves as the first “no client” client, wherein the executable files are run on the backend infrastructure that includes Delivery Services 1.0 and a web-based Receiver. Stay tuned for further details soon.

As with all Technology Previews, users are welcome to download and try the product and give Citrix their invaluable feedback. You can download this for free at www.citrix.com/chromeos . Version 1.0 will follow this release in the near future.
