eG Innovations has announced that it will showcase purpose-built monitoring capabilities for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.x at Citrix Synergy 2018.

The widely deployed version 6.5 of Citrix XenApp, the industry leading application virtualization software, will reach end of life on June 30, 2018. A recent industry survey conducted by eG Innovations and DABCC across 795 Citrix professionals revealed that 70% of organizations will migrate to the latest Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop version 7.x in 2018. As organizations plan to upgrade to XenApp and XenDesktop 7.x, they need to prepare for major changes in the platform architecture, policy settings, protocols, and new components they must deploy and maintain after the upgrade. At the same time, Citrix administrators will need to ensure that the experience of digital workspace users after the migration is at least the same, if not better than what it was prior to the migration.

Introduced initially in October 2015, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7 has matured considerably with a host of new functionalities designed to provide a more enhanced, secure and seamless application and desktop virtualization platform for end users. “Because of the major architectural differences between the old and new versions of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, not all the monitoring capabilities that worked with the earlier version can be directly reused to support the new version. Through our longstanding global relationship with Citrix, we strive to make sure that our products keep pace with the evolution of Citrix products and are tightly integrated with them. In our latest release, v6.3, we have introduced a number of new monitoring capabilities that have been purpose-built to address the latest architectural and functional changes in Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.x. We see this as being necessary to provide the most effective and up-to-date monitoring soluton for proactive monitoring, diagnosis and performance analytics for Citrix deployments,” said Srinivas Ramanathan, CEO of eG Innovations.

eG Innovations will showcase eG Enterprise v6.3 at its booth #416 at Citrix Synergy in Anaheim from May 8–10, 2018. Demonstrations will cover key features including:

  • Monitoring support for Citrix Cloud
  • Auto-discovery of sessions using the Citrix HDX adaptive transport protocol (EDT) and Framehawk virtual channel and tracking of their performance
  • Reporting on user network connection quality for Citrix sessions
  • Deeper visibility into Citrix logon processing including alerts on large profiles and breakdown of logon time into client and server-side processing times
  • Monitoring of session pre-launch and lingering
  • Monitoring per-application GPU consumption
  • Monitoring and reporting on Linux VDAs
  • New reports for tracking slow logon trends over time, and comparing performance before and after migration

Also, eG Innovations has been chosen as the performance monitoring partner for the fourth consecutive year by the Citrix IT Operations Events. The Citrix Synergy 2018 IT infrastructure supporting the conference will be monitored using eG Enterprise. “We are delighted to be chosen again as the performance monitoring partner for Citrix Synergy 2018. This is a testimony to the strong partnership between both companies,” said Srinivas Ramanathan.

“eG Enterprise end-to-end monitoring works well for our corporate events to simplify our ability to monitor the entire infrastructure from a single console,” said Fabian Wright, Event Technical Marketing Senior Manager, Citrix, Inc. “The eG Enterprise unified console enables us to quickly identify and assess performance issues across the entire IT service delivery chain. With visibility throughout our on-premises and hybrid cloud-based infrastructures, we can be proactive instead of reactive in our approach to performance management. It’s a valuable tool that contributes to the success of our live industry events.”
