IBM announces the acquisition of CrossIdeas

Alexander Ervik Johnsen Cloud, CrossIdeas, IBM 2014-08-04

This was announced by the Big Blue on July 31, 2014 that it has acquired CrossIdea, the security software provider company to strengthen its cloud computing portfolios. The financial terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed. The announcement was made through a press release statement published on the official website of the company.

It was further informed through the official statement that there was a huge pressure from the client side to assure the most sophisticated mechanism to counter the high tech security threats and spying tools prevailing in the cloud computing ecosystem. The enterprises were also of the view that a powerful security is the only solution for better adoption of the cloud computing based services for the business community.

The statement further elaborated that the CrossIdea will help to manage the application or data access seamlessly with strong enforcement of identity management. This will bridge the gap between IT infrastructure, compliance and the business to reduce the risk factor in the smooth operation of the businesses across the globe.

CrossIdeas offers Identity and Access Governance solutions enabling clients to address risk and compliance requirements with a business-driven approach across enterprise and cloud deployments. CrossIdeas’s cutting-edge technology bridges the gap between compliance, business and IT infrastructure to help reduce the risk of fraud, conflicts of duties and human error in business processes.

CrossIdeas’s existing integration with IBM’s leading Security Identity Management portfolio already allows IBM customers to deploy integrated access governance and user life-cycle management within a single platform. CrossIdeas advances IBM’s security strategy to offer actionable Identity Intelligence and Analytics.

In his statement, the General Manager of IBM Security Systems Division, Mr. Brendan Hannigan said, “The addition of CrossIdeas extends IBM’s market share leading portfolio of identity and access management capabilities. IBM can now provide enterprises with enhanced governance capabilities and transparency into risk from the factory floor to the board room, giving leaders the insight they need to protect their brand and customers.”

While talking about the better security management that the CrossIdea will bring in IBM services, the chief executive officer of CrossIdea, Mr. Alberto Ocello said, “CrossIdeas is very excited to become part of IBM through this acquisition. The innovative technology of CrossIdeas’ IDEAS solution strongly complements IBM’s Identity and Access Management portfolio and we are proud to contribute to IBM’s worldwide expansion in the IT security market.”

It was further explained in the official statement that, the security capabilities of CrossIdea software would be implemented with the existing security mechanism of IBM Security services called as IBM Security Identity Management (ISIM). With the merger of these two powerful tools, the identity management and the application access would become one of the most sophisticated on the domain of cloud computing services.
