Liquidware Labs Delivers Detailed Application Virtualization Assessment Capabilities in Stratusphere v4.5.4
ALPHARETTA, Ga. and LAS VEGAS, Nev. – VMware Partner Exchange – Feb. 8, 2010 – – Liquidware Labs, the leader in Assessment and User Experience Management for virtual desktops, today announced the availability of Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities in Liquidware Labs Stratusphere v4.5.4.
The new functionality builds on Liquidware Labs’ already comprehensive approach to working with partners and organizations to assess and migrate companies to their next generation desktop strategy, including locally hosted or cloud-based VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop virtual machines.
Stratusphere’s Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities gathers complete data and usage metrics for existing installed applications in order to determine their fitness and complexity for application virtualization. The solution delivers the information in easily understood, yet comprehensive, inventory, resource requirement, and usage reports that give administrators and management the exact information needed for decisions involving application virtualization and planning for solutions such as VMware ThinApp, Citrix XenApp, and Microsoft App-V.
“We’re executing on our mission to be the de facto solution before, during, and after companies embark on virtual desktop and application strategies,” said Tyler Rohrer, COO and founder of Liquidware Labs. “Stratusphere provides the visibility needed to make informed architecture, and vendor choices, and assist them with the on-ramp for optimum workload placement, and application delivery methods. People use applications, not machines.”
Stratusphere’s Application Virtualization Assessment capabilities track and assess application data at several levels by first capturing a complete application inventory of assessed desktops, including laptops that are used offline. The solution then obtains detailed information on each application critical to determining its fitness and complexity for application virtualization including:
•Executable size
•System services installed and used per application
•Device drivers installed per application
•Total number of application users
•Average launch delay (application load time)
•Application usage (total and average time)
•Application resource requirements (total and average CPU, memory, IO)
•Application Graphics Intensity
Once the above metrics have been gathered, Stratusphere correlates the data and offers it to users in the form of a new One-Click Application Virtualization Target report that categorizes applications into Low, Medium, and High Complexity target groups. Detailed application inventory reports are also available that can be filtered by user groups (from AD/LDAP) or machine groups (locations, machine types).
