Nutanix/ Nutanix AHV

Nutanix Xtract for vms 2.0.3 released

Alexander Ervik Johnsen 2019-02-09

Nutanix

Simplify migrations to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud

Nutanix Xtract helps streamline ‘lift-and-shift’ virtual machine (VM) migrations to a Nutanix Enterprise Cloud.

  • Streamlined migrations with one-click simplicity
  • Near-zero downtime with full cutover control
  • Simple test migrations and roll-back capabilities
  • Cost efficient – included with all Nutanix software editions

Virtual Machine Migrations

Adopting new infrastructure platforms often requires a migration of pre-existing systems. Nutanix Xtract for VMs simplifies bulk migration of existing VMs to Nutanix, eliminating the friction associated with onboarding new IT infrastructure. Businesses can quickly leverage the full potential of Nutanix Enterprise Cloud with near-zero VM downtime during the migration from vSphere ESXi and Amazon AWS to Nutanix AHV.

This release includes the following new features:

Added RHEL 7.5 as fully supported OS for migration from ESXi.
You can now migrate RHEL 7.5 VMs from ESXi to AHV.

Added new OSes support for AWS to AHV migration. You can now migrate the following OSes.

  • CentOS 6.8 to 6.9
  • RHEL 6.8 to 6.10

Added manual VM preparation for ESXi guest VMs. You can now manually prepare guest VMs while migrating from ESXi to AHV.

Improved data distribution across multi-node AHV cluster. Data balancing support for target writes over a multi node AHV cluster, which contributes to efficient CVM stress management and better write performance. This feature also removes the soft limit (~10) recommended in the past on number of guest VMs included under a migration plan.Improved the migration speed of VMs.

Improved the migration speed of VMs between ESXi and AHV by dynamically tuning configuration to increase or decrease number of streams and by enabling compression.

Redesigned TelemetryRedesigned telemetry to reduce duplication while sending the data to Athena and Insight DB.
