Cisco, Citrix and NetApp Work Together to Deliver a New Combined Desktop Virtualization Solution
On September 8, 2010 Citrix, Cisco and NetApp joined forces to unveil an exciting new desktop virtualization solution that combines all the benefits of Citrix XenDesktop, with all the power of the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), and adding the strength of NetApp storage in terms of their ability to scale and efficient storage density makes this a winning combination. Because it’s based on XenDesktop, the new solution will deliver any mix of virtual desktops and apps, to any device, with a brilliant, high definition user experience. And because it incorporates the innovative new Cisco UCS platform, it will feature a highly efficient datacenter infrastructure that’s scalable, cost effective, and perfectly suited to desktop virtualization.
This new combined desktop virtualization solution will include templates for easy deployment, a starter kit for the first 300 desktops, plug-and-play expansion packs to scale to tens of thousands of additional users, and a single integrated support number for customers to call. The new solution will also feature a Cisco validated reference architecture based on extensive interoperability and scalability testing to ensure a seamless experience for customers of all sizes. At the same time, it has been designed as an open solution that supports all leading hypervisors, storage systems and end user devices, as well as the more than 10,000 Citrix Ready products currently verified to work with XenDesktop. This groundbreaking new desktop virtualization solution will be the first offering on the market to incorporate software, hardware and support into a unified offering that makes desktop virtualization easy to deploy…easy to support…and easy to scale.
