Alexander Ervik Johnsen Accellion, Citrix, Secure File Transfer, virtual appliance, XenServer 2010-09-02

Accellion, Inc. has announced the extension of its managed file transfer solution to include support for Citrix XenServer® virtual environments.  The Accellion Virtual Appliance A5000X for Citrix XenServer, helps corporations and government agencies provision their business users with the ability to securely and efficiently share digital files.  As the leading provider of secure file transfer solutions for virtual environments, Accellion enables organizations to rapidly deploy managed file transfer while leveraging their investments in virtual environments.

“Growing concerns over security risks associated with sharing information through unsecure methods including P2P, mail and courier services, are driving demand for Accellion secure file transfer,” said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. “With the introduction of the Accellion Virtual Appliance for Citrix XenServer, organizations can immediately address these challenges through rapid enterprise-wide deployment of secure file transfer capabilities within a Citrix virtual environment.”

“The Accellion virtual appliance is another great example of the growing ISV support and momentum for XenServer. With today’s economic uncertainty, companies around the world are driving to find the most economical and easy-to-use IT solutions for both end users and IT management,” said Lou Shipley, Group VP and GM, XenServer Product Group, Citrix. “By delivering Accellion’s cloud-ready virtual appliances on XenServer, Accellion is assuring its customers will achieve the highest ROI while accessing market leading applications such as Accellion Secure File Transfer.”

The Accellion Virtual Appliance A5000X for Citrix XenServer, is available immediately for use with both the free and Platinum editions of Citrix XenServer 5.6.

Accellion Secure File Transfer
Accellion’s enterprise secure file transfer solution protects companies against security and compliance risks at the file transfer source.  Accellion appliances come in virtual, cloud and hardware-based configurations which work together seamlessly and can be mixed and matched, both on-premise and in-the-cloud, to support multi-office installations and standalone single-site solutions.

In addition to an easy-to-use interface, customers can quickly send and receive files (up to 50 GBs) in a format that meets the strictest security and privacy requirements.  It also offers tracking and reporting capabilities to help customers document conformance with security and compliance requirements during electronic file transfers.

As with all virtual technology, customers realize additional environmental benefits with the Accellion virtual appliance, such as the elimination of packaging and transportation, a smaller hardware footprint, as well as greatly reduced power consumption and HVAC investments.
