AppSense Announces User Virtualization for Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure

Alexander Ervik Johnsen Appsense, Cisco VXI, Citrix, Citrix Synergy, User Virtualization, XenDesktop 2011-05-27

This week at Citrix Synergy in San Francisco – AppSense, the leading provider of user virtualization solutions, today announced that its User Virtualization Platform v8.0 has successfully completed interoperability testing on the Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) system that was conducted by Cisco.

AppSense User Virtualization is the first complete software solution to enable seamless user management across both physical and virtual desktops. Cisco VXI is a comprehensive desktop virtualization system comprised of various networking, security, collaboration and data center technologies designed to support video enhanced desktop virtualization. Together the solutions from AppSense and Cisco unlock the user layer from devices, operating systems, and applications to ease deployment of desktop virtualization across an enterprise.

“AppSense User Virtualization enables customers to more quickly deploy highly scalable VXI environments by eliminating user-related complexity and transition risk across physical and virtual desktops,” said Phil Sherburne, vice president, enterprise architecture and systems, Cisco. “IT organizations can confidently integrate Cisco VXI into their enterprise desktop systems without user disruption while significantly reducing implementation and operating costs.”

By using AppSense User Virtualization with Cisco VXI, customers can manage a single instance of each user’s personality, data and application settings across any desktop. Users receive a fully-personalized experience that persists across all applications, whether they are delivered locally, streamed, published to the desktop, or any combination thereof. This greatly reduces complexity by reducing the number of OS images, application packages and testing required.

“Successfully completing Cisco VXI testing extends our market-leader position in user virtualization,” said David Roussain, vice president of Strategic Technology Alliances at AppSense. “By enabling Cisco customers to accelerate their Cisco VXI deployments, they are able to realize project benefits and cost savings faster with significantly reduced risk.”

Additionally AppSense CTO, Harry Labana, will be participating in a panel on Cisco VXI at Citrix Synergy taking place in San Francisco this week. The panel is taking place Wednesday, May 25 from 8 – 8:45 a.m. and will also include Doug Dooley, director of product management for the desktop division at Cisco, and Jake Hughes, chief technical architect at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
