Unitrend 9.0 Beta sets a new industry standard for user experience

Unitrends version 9.0 beta

Unitrends, a leader in enterprise-level cloud recovery, has announced Release 9.0 Beta, the data protection software powering its physical and virtual backup appliances as well as Unitrends Cloud. Release 9.0 Beta delivers a revolutionary user experience that reconciles simplicity with sophistication, without sacrificing any of Unitrends’ award-winning data protection features and functionality. With this new software, Unitrends also becomes first in the industry to extend recovery assurance technology to physical systems.

Radical Ease-of-Use
Unitrends Release 9.0 Beta features a user interface (UI) that is remarkably simple and intuitive for experienced and in-experienced users alike. Customers are able to perform a backup in 64 percent fewer clicks than competing solutions. They can quickly complete tasks such as creating a backup job, restoring a full virtual machine (VM) and executing instant VM and file recovery right from the software’s interactive dashboard.

Whether using
Recovery-Series™ physical appliances or Unitrends Enterprise Backup™ and Unitrends Free™ virtual appliances, the interface is the same across all products. As a result, customers gain a single, consistent approach to managing heterogeneous environments. The Release 9.0 Beta UI is literally so easy to use that IT administrators will likely never need to refer to a manual. This familiarity and simplicity boost productivity, helping IT organizations to not only recover data and systems, but also precious time to focus on other priorities. The Release 9.0 Beta UI expands logically as users take advantage of Unitrends’ more advanced backup and recovery features and capabilities, always maintaining easy manageability – even when protecting the most complex IT environments.

“Some compelling capabilities reside under a newly designed and highly simplified interface. One of Release 9.0’s differentiating strengths – indeed, a strength of the entire Unitrends product line – is the fact that in today’s increasingly virtualized world, they offer deep support for physical as well as virtual environments,” said Jim Whelan, senior analyst at The Taneja Group. “This is more important than it might at first appear. No matter how virtualized your environment is, if there’s even one critical application that’s still physical, you need to strongly consider a solution that can protect both. This gives you maximum enterprise-level data protection with lower operating costs, since you don’t need multiple data protection packages and people trained to run them. Unitrends backs up all of the legacy and virtualized servers and applications in your enterprise data center, and it does it without requiring advanced training and specialized staff.”

Richer, Highly Interactive Experience
Unitrends 9.0 Beta sets a new industry standard for the customer experience, simplifying everything from system setup and common backup and recovery tasks, to troubleshooting and support. Customers have direct access to the Unitrends Customer Community from the software’s main dashboard, giving them the ability to interact directly with their peers and Unitrends support without ever having to exit out of the tool.

Unitrends 9.0 Beta leverages predictive analytics to provide the company with continuous feedback on how customers are interacting with the software. This insight will help Unitrends continually improve the customer experience, evolving and adapting its solutions based on user preferences.

“With Release 9.0 Beta, we have accomplished what others have found impossible to do – eliminate the complexity of backup and recovery without compromising robust functionality or performance. On top on that, we’re delivering yet another industry first with the introduction of recovery assurance for physical environments,” said Kevin Weiss, Unitrends’ president and chief executive officer. “This software release is absolutely transformative for our customers. We’re making their daily lives easier, creating a world-class customer experience and giving them confidence that their heterogeneous, ever-evolving IT environments are always protected.”

Proof of Recoverability
With seamless integration to
ReliableDR, Unitrends Release 9.0 Beta gives organizations the ability to add recovery assurance for Windows guest-level backups in addition to VMware vSphere and Microsoft® Hyper-V applications. Given that so many tier one business applications are not yet virtualized, this means that for the first time, organizations are able to perform 100 percent automated testing and failover to certify that their physical environments are fully recoverable. Organizations can now get continuous proof that their physical, virtual and deep virtual environments will be restored within each application’s recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs).
