Former Citrix General Manager Joins VMTurbo as President and CEO

Alexander Ervik Johnsen News, QoS, Virtualization, VMTurbo, XenServer, XenSource 2011-08-23

VMTurbo, a leading provider of intelligent workload management software to assure application performance, today announced that N. Louis Shipley, formerly General Manager of Citrix Xen Products Group, has joined VMTurbo as President and CEO. He also will join the VMTurbo board of directors. Shipley replaces VMTurbo founder Shmuel Kliger as President and CEO. Kliger will focus on product and technology strategy as well as strategic partnerships.

Since first launching its virtualization management product at VMworld last year, VMTurbo has gained significant market traction. Thousands of organizations worldwide — including British Telecom, NASA and Colgate-Palmolive — are using VMTurbo solutions. Shipley is an experienced CEO with virtualization and cloud expertise and will guide VMTurbo through its next stage of growth.

“VMTurbo’s intelligent workload management solution is uniquely positioned to enable enterprises and cloud service providers to deliver Quality of Service (QoS) for virtualized mission-critical applications,” said Shipley. “Without real-time management, mission-critical applications simply cannot be virtualized.”

Shipley brings solid virtualization industry credentials to VMTurbo. He was President and CEO of Reflectent Software, an end user application performance monitoring company acquired by Citrix in 2006. He was General Manager of the Citrix Management Systems group, then took on the role of General Manager of Citrix XenServer when Citrix acquired XenSource in 2007.

Lou joined Reflectent in December 2002 after working as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Highland Capital Partners. Prior to Highland, Lou served as Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for WebLine Communications, a customer contact center software company acquired by Cisco Systems in 1999 for $325 million. Previous to WebLine, Lou served as Vice President of Americas and Pacific operations at Avid Technology. Shipley joined Avid as a startup and oversaw growth to over $450 million in revenue. He also founded and served as President of Avid Japan, KK.
