Best Practices for deploying Citrix XenApp 6 Server Configuration Tool
This support article from Citrix, highlights some of the best practices to follow with the deployment of the Hotfix for XenApp Server Configuration Tool – Update 1.1.0 for XenApp 6 for Windows Server 2008 R2 as detailed in CTX124981 – XenApp Server Configuration Tool – Update 1.1.0 for XenApp 6 for Windows Server 2008 R2.
Best Practices
- This upgrade of the Server Configuration Tool should be done using the same user account (for example: user2) that was previously used to deploy and configure XenApp 6.0 for example: user2). If this is not the case, then you will see two versions of the XenApp Server Configuration Tool in the original user account that initiated the XenApp 6.0 Installation (in this example it is User1).
However, only one version of the binary is installed in the actual installation directory (defaults to c:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\XenApp\ServerConfig)
- You must be a XenApp Farm administrator to invoke a XenApp Leave operation because this operation invokes specific operation on the data collector. If you attempt to run Leave operation using a user account that is not a XenApp administrator, you get a message that says “One or more of the IMA Services failed to unregister themselves from the farm. Error Code: -2147483626”. [CPR 233666]
Note: The XenApp Create operation is a similar case, however the user account invoking a XenApp Join operation does not have to be a XenApp farm administrator because the Join operation takes place when the Citrix Independent Management Architecture Service starts after a reboot.
