Citrix Lync Optimization Pack 1.1 tested
So we tested the latest Citrix Optimization Pack 1.1 for XenApp 6.5 FP1.
The requriments are:
XenApp 6 and higher.
Windows server 2008 and higher
Our demo enviroment is:
XenApp 6.5 with FP1
Windows 2008 R2 standard
Hardware
IBM Blade HS 22, with Xenserver.
1 Windows server with Xenapp
1 Windows server with Lync server 2010
1 Igel UD9 Windows 7 Thinclient
1 Lenovo PC with windows 7
Polycom CX5000 Roundtable
Logitec GD920 webcam
INSTALLING:
1. The Lync Mediaengine is installed on both clients
2. The Lync Connector is installed on XenApp
3. The Lync client is installed on XenApp desktop.
TESTING:
The user expirience is amazing good.
As before it delivers realtime audio video streams.
I will say that the user expirience is better after the upgrade, when comparing to 2 local clients on LAN.
NOTICE:
We notice some changes, and maybe BUG???
On the old Lync opt. 1.0 we had to change Lync user setting from “Telephone” to “Disable audio / video”
In Lync opt. 1.1, we had to change this back to “PC-to-PC”… It DID NOT work with the old settings.
The other good news is that Polycom CX5000 is now working as a charm…
We just connected the cam to the UD9 with USB, drivers was installed from Microsoft.
Connected to XenApp Desktop, started Lync and voila… fantastic good video performance,
And Roundtable worked as is should. responding to sound, and changing video picture.
The last thing we notice is that on the old 1.0 we had to wait when we started Lync client.
In the latest 1.1 we don’t have to wait for any drivers or optimization to start, it working straight away
