Citrix Positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of the 2011 Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure

Alexander Ervik Johnsen 2011 Magic Quadrant, Citrix, Gartner, News, Server Virtualization, Virtualization, XenServer 2011-07-07

Citrix Systems, Inc. has announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the leaders quadrant of the “2011 Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure*” report by Thomas Bittman, vice president and distinguished analyst. The report evaluates Citrix XenServer®, a key component of the company’s virtualization and cloud computing strategy.  For its evaluation of the server virtualization market, Gartner highlighted that “vendor understanding and articulation of the strategic path for virtualization (expanding into the foundation for the future of infrastructure architecture and operations, and extending toward cloud computing) is particularly important and differentiating.”

Citrix XenServer Recognized by Info-Tech Research for Comprehensive Functionality and Flexibility

Citrix Systems, Inc. also announced that Citrix has been listed as a “Champion” in Info-Tech Research Group’s Vendor Landscape report titled, “Select the Right Vendor for Server Virtualization; Enable Server Efficiency and Cost Savings from Consolidation to Internal Cloud.” The report evaluated Citrix XenServer, a key component of the company’s virtualization and cloud computing strategy, and placed Citrix as one of two vendors in the upper right Champion quadrant (see market landscape graphic and summary of report here). Info-Tech defines Champions as “offering excellent value,” “having a strong market presence” and acting as “trend setters for the industry.”

“Citrix provides the most comprehensive all-around solution for the price,” said John Sloan, Lead Research Analyst, Info-Tech Research Group.  “VMware, for many years, was the only server virtualization game in town, which allowed it to develop a healthy lead in features and functionality.  However, over the last two years, Citrix and Microsoft have largely closed this gap in consolidation and management capabilities and are now moving development to the utility infrastructure. Look closely at Citrix as an alternative to VMware – it offers many of the same features as VMware with more flexibility and a lower price.”

Info-Tech Research Group Vendor Landscape reports recognize outstanding vendors in the technology marketplace.  Assessing vendors by the strength of their offering and their strategy for the enterprise, Info-Tech Research Group Vendor Landscapes pay tribute to the contribution of exceptional vendors in a particular category.  The full Info-Tech Vendor Landscape report report can be viewed here.
