Easy On-Ramp to Virtualized Datacenters Now Available from Convirture

SAN FRANCISCO, August 30, 2010 — Organizations large and small that wish to get a quick start with virtualization can now do so easily and cost-effectively with the release of ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise Starter Edition from Convirture.

ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise Starter Edition is a fully-functional version of ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise – the first comprehensive management software for virtual servers based on the Xen and KVM hypervisors.  Starter Edition is specifically designed for small- and medium-size businesses, or larger enterprises that need a test bed for pre-production deployments before rolling out ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise to the entire data center.

The Starter Edition is licensed for up to three managed hosts and an unlimited number of virtual machines. Four enterprise support incidents are included with Starter Edition and additional support can be purchased on a per incident basis.

“Since the launch of ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise, a recurring theme we’ve heard amongst our thousands of open source users as well as new customers is that they would like  a quick and convenient way of getting started with ConVirt Enterprise,” said Arsalan Farooq, CEO and founder of Convirture. “The great thing about Starter Edition is that, in a very turn-key and cost-effective package, customers can experience all the features and capabilities of ConVirt Enterprise in a product that is not a ‘light’ or otherwise feature-compromised version of our software.”

ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise builds on the open source edition, which is a freely available, widely deployed and proven virtualization management solution that has been downloaded more than 30,000 times since its release in 2006.
ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise, which was released in July 2010, adds features including high availability, advanced backup and private cloud management.
More information about the various versions of ConVirt can be found at: www.convirture.com/products.php.
