NetApp Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in Storage Resource Management and SAN Management Software Magic Quadrant

Alexander Ervik Johnsen Magic Quadrant, NetApp, storage management, Virtualization 2010-10-11

NetApp, announced that Gartner, Inc. positioned NetApp in the Leaders quadrant for Storage Resource Management and SAN Management Software. In a recently released research report, “Magic Quadrant for Storage Resource Management and SAN Management Software,” Gartner asserts, vendors in the Leaders quadrant “have the highest combined measures of Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. They have the most comprehensive and scalable products. They have a proven track record of financial performance and an established market presence. In terms of vision, they are perceived as thought leaders with well-articulated plans for ease of use, as well as how to address scalability and product breadth. For vendors to have long-term success, they must plan to address the expanded market requirements for change management, root cause analysis and performance analysis. Leaders must not only deliver to current market requirements, which continue to change, but also need to anticipate and deliver on future requirements. A cornerstone for Leaders is the ability to articulate how these requirements will be addressed as part of their vision for resource management. As a group, Leaders can be considered a part of most new purchase proposals, and they have high success rates in winning new business.”

“We believe our position in the Gartner Leaders quadrant is strong recognition of NetApp® storage management solutions and demonstrates the value and flexibility our innovations offer customers to address their evolving storage infrastructure requirements,” said Krish Padmanabhan, vice president and general manager of Manageability and Ecosystem Integration, NetApp. “Our growth in revenue, sales execution and market share indicates that NetApp is gaining traction and becoming the solution of choice to help customers maximize the efficiency of a shared IT infrastructure.”

NetApp storage management solutions help customers optimize their shared IT infrastructure and reduce the cost of delivering storage services. With a single, unified management approach for physical, virtual, and service environments, NetApp solutions control, automate and analyze the IT infrastructure to help customers respond rapidly to changing demands. These offerings address the growing and critical need for service automation to help customers reduce the time required to perform routine administrative tasks as their infrastructures grow. In particular, unique SANscreen® capabilities, which include monitoring, service analysis and near real-time discovery of large-scale, multi-vendor, multi-protocol enterprise environments help customers optimize shared IT infrastructures to deliver services efficiently.
