Nutanix, the leading provider of next-generation datacenter infrastructure solutions, today announced that Gartner, Inc. positioned the company furthest in the Visionary Quadrant for completeness of vision in the first-ever Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems. Nutanix believes the placement is testament to the company’s commitment and success in bringing web-scale infrastructure solutions to mainstream enterprises and to the company’s extraordinary growth in the past two years.
According to Gartner, “Based on 2013 revenue rates, we estimate the overall market for integrated systems will exceed $6 billion in 2014, with annual growth of 50% over the prior year.” “The integrated system market is founded on innovation, and attracts numerous startups that see the potential to penetrate a data center market normally dominated by the established vendors,” wrote Gartner as part of the report. “The majority of integrated systems are the effective packaging of server, storage and networking components that are sold as separate products in their own right. But we are seeing the emergence of true “fabric-based computers” that merge the three elements more seamlessly.”
Nutanix was founded in 2009 to fulfill its vision of how enterprise datacenters will evolve in the cloud era. The company’s approach is based around fundamental technology shifts in enterprise mobility, consumer-grade design, big data analytics, and hybrid cloud architectures to deliver the benefits of web-scale technologies to the masses. Nutanix simplifies the design, management and growth of enterprise datacenters with a 100 percent software-defined Integrated System that optimizes nearly any virtual workload. Additionally, Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform is hypervisor agnostic, enabling enterprise IT managers to select the right virtualization technology for their environment, whether that is VMware vSphere™, Microsoft Hyper-V™, open source KVM or a combination.
“At Nutanix, we envision a decade for datacenters in which the computing platform will be completely virtual,” said Dheeraj Pandey, CEO of Nutanix. “A platform that encompasses the principles of fractional consumption economics, application-centric policies, user-centric design, flash memory, and hybrid cloud computing will be the torchbearer for enterprise IT this coming decade. We are pleased that Gartner has recognized us.”
Web-scale infrastructure is fundamentally a new approach to designing, deploying and managing datacenters that are radically simpler and more efficient than datacenters built using traditional IT products. Web-scale architectures and technologies were pioneered in large cloud and web companies – such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon – and are now being adopted by mainstream enterprises.
To highlight the influence of web-scale technologies in enterprise datacenters, Nutanix is hosting Web-Scale Wednesday on June 25, 2014 from 9:00am PT – 12:00pm PT (with on-demand access throughout the week). This interactive and educational industry event brings together web-scale experts from virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud companies to discuss how recent developments are changing the course of enterprise IT. See the link in the resources section below for a complete agenda of Web-Scale Wednesday.
