SMS Authentication Support From SMS PASSCODE Now Included With Citrix Receiver for iPhone
SMS Authentication support offers a seamless SMS based two-factor authentication solution.
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — ( Press Release, Jan. 12, 2010) – SMS PASSCODE® today announced that it now provides SMS authentication for Citrix Receiver™ for iPhone 2.0. SMS PASSCODE is a new generation of two-factor authentication solution based on the mobile phones SMS. Through this SMS authentication support in Citrix Receiver for iPhone, SMS PASSCODE extends it’s long standing relationship with Citrix that includes support for Citrix desktop and server virtualization solutions and secure remote access products.
Citrix Receiver for iPhone is a lightweight software client that makes accessing virtual desktops and applications on any device as easy as turning on your TV. Citrix Receiver for iPhone with support for SMS Authentication from SMS PASSCODE significantly increases the ease of use when using two-factor authentication. Users perform the standard login procedure. A SMS PASSCODE message appears on the mobile phone via SMS, and once clicked, authenticates the user and launches Citrix Receiver.
Accessing systems via the internet has become a way of life and as a result of that, identity theft has become one of the fastest growing threats to corporations and individuals alike. To protect against this, companies have deployed two-factor authentication, which is something you know in the shape of user name and password and something you have in the shape of a physical token or now also mobile phones. Recently, the Zeus malware came in a variation that can compromise the physical tokens yet without compromising SMS PASSCODE’s more secure login process. First, the user enters a user name and password challenge and it is not until that is validated that the system creates and send via SMS a real-time one-time-passcode only valid for that login session or attempt. With Citrix Receiver, the user simply clicks on this code and is automatically and very user intuitively authenticated safely.
The SMS PASSCODE support in the Citrix Receiver for iPhone 2.0 has been implemented as a result of the collaboration between Citrix and SMS PASSCODE engineering teams. “Two-factor authentication is a critical component for our enterprise customers who are supporting mobile users. Citrix Receiver for iPhone gives users instant access to corporate resources wherever they are. Now with SMS Authentication support from SMS PASSCODE, our customers have confidence that high levels of security are in place not only for mobile laptop users but also for iPhone users,” said Chris Fleck, vice president, Solutions and Community Development, Citrix Systems.
Scoping the more secure solution and implementing it only took a few months. “The more secure login process of SMS PASSCODE protects corporate customers against the modern threats identity theft threats on the internet. Unlike traditional two-factor authentication solutions, this opens up for the ability to validate user credentials before creating and sending a real-time passcode via SMS that is only valid for that login attempt” says David Hald. “We have an extensive base of Citrix customers that can now extend their SMS PASSCODE protection also on the mobile Receivers from Citrix” continues David Hald.
SMS authentication support with SMS PASSCODE is immediately available with Citrix Receiver for iPhone 2.0. Citrix Receiver for iPhone is available at the Apple App Store. More information about SMS PASSCODE can be found at www.smspasscode.com
