Sychron Announces Beta Program for Latest Version of OnDemand DesktopTM Virtualization and Automation Software
Version 4.2 Adds Workload Automation, Scheduling, and Capacity Planning Capabilities for Hosted Virtual Desktops
Sychron, Inc. has opened a beta program for the latest version of OnDemand Desktop™, a next generation desktop virtualization and automation solution designed to make enterprise desktop computing more agile, more secure, and more cost-effective to scale. Sychron OnDemand Desktop Version 4.2 includes advanced resource scheduling with intuitive calendar controls for automated provisioning based on workload, time of day, and day of week. New features also include simulation and modeling capabilities based on expected workload, service levels, and availability, as well as a wizard-driven installation process that further simplifies virtual desktop implementation for large-scale deployments.
“We have been really impressed with Sychron’s ability to automate provisioning, brokering, and load balancing for server-based, virtual desktops,” said Alan DeLoera, Director of IT at the City of Temple. “Leveraging Sychron OnDemand Desktop, we can tie service level guarantees to virtual desktop behavior and provide immediate access to pristine, secure desktops to any of our users from any location. We are eager to test the enhanced resource scheduling, capacity planning, and ease of use capabilities included in the next release.”
Sychron OnDemand Desktop provides breakthrough automation technology that greatly simplifies the management of large numbers of virtual desktops for individual users or groups of users. By dynamically maintaining a reservoir of virtual desktops, OnDemand Desktop conserves resources by automatically starting and stopping virtual desktops based on service level guarantees and defined thresholds such as time of day, location, and type of user.
“We have worked diligently to eliminate the complexity and cost associated with traditional approaches to desktop virtualization,” said Steve Kiser, Sychron President and CEO. “With Sychron OnDemand Desktop, no third-party virtual management components are necessary, nor is any SAN or NAS required, enabling us to deliver the ROI our customers expect. The ‘fire-and-forget’ scheduling capabilities as well as the simplified installation process available in Version 4.2 are going to further simplify large-scale VDI deployments for our customers.”
Sychron OnDemand Desktop Version 4.2 includes the following new features:
-
Enhanced Scheduling and Workload Automation: A new calendar interface enables automated provisioning based on workload, time of day, and day of week. Scheduling virtual desktop resources is as simple as setting an appointment in Microsoft Outlook.
-
Advanced Capacity Planning and Simulation: Sychron OnDemand Desktop provides simulation and modeling capabilities based on expected workload, service levels, and availability to assist with capacity planning and scaling virtual desktop deployments.
-
Improved Graphical User Interface: An intuitive and scalable user interface is essential as organizations struggle with the complexity and cost of traditional virtual desktop deployments. Sychron OnDemand Desktop has redesigned its user interface to further simplify management, provisioning, and load balancing for virtual desktop infrastructures.
-
Simplified Installation Process: The latest version of Sychron OnDemand Desktop includes a wizard-driven installation process that greatly simplifies installation and configuration. Installation and configuration typically complete in fewer than two hours.
