Wyse aquires Cloud Client Computing company Trellia
Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, today announced it acquired Trellia, a leader in cloud-based mobile infrastructure management. The Trellia solution suite provides Wyse, its customers and partners with the most comprehensive suite of cloud-based mobile security, device, app and expense management software solutions. The Trellia acquisition adds a specific set of technology IP and expertise to present and future Wyse infrastructure management software solutions aimed at helping organizations speed deployment of cloud client computing. Through the acquisition, Wyse will further simplify and reduce the cost for organizations of all sizes to manage, support and secure the exploding number of consumer smartphones and tablets now accessing physical and virtualized IT resources.
IDC is forecasting the virtual client computing market to top $3.2 billion by 2014, and more organizations are adopting desktop virtualization and desktop as a service (DaaS). The Trellia acquisition brings Wyse’s infrastructure management strategy to the next level by delivering a broad set of capabilities. As smartphones and tablets continue to rapidly permeate the enterprise and the trends around consumerization of IT continue to accelerate, IT professionals are faced with new challenges in supporting the myriad of mobile users with new smart devices while preserving the security and integrity of sensitive company information. Beyond the pure and outdated mobile device management (MDM) solutions, Wyse plans to deliver intelligent, scalable and secure cloud-based mobile infrastructure and content management, supporting a wide range of users, content types, apps and devices at home, at work or on-the-go.
Wyse established its leadership in the global mobile device market with the success of Wyse PocketCloud, the award-winning mobile cloud app, now used on millions of iOS- and Android-based smartphones and tablets. Wyse PocketCloud delivers user and content management as a service, enabling users to securely access work and personal assets from a secure personal cloud. According to recent reports, mobile security exploits are on track to double year over year between 2010 and 2011 and yet IT managers are doing less today to secure mobile devices. Trellia’s cloud-based policy, compliance, app and device management portfolio delivers the complete endpoint protection for customers, further extending the security benefits already offered through Wyse’s cloud client computing portfolio. The combination of advanced end-point management and security eliminates operational expense by simplifying how IT and operator administrators implement policies, assist users and enforce compliance for mobile users across the enterprise. In the Post-PC world, enterprises will provide their employees with a wide variety of devices, while some users will also bring their own devices into the enterprise. IT teams are looking for integrated and intelligent solutions to manage and secure mobile users, content, apps, and devices with the highest level of security management capabilities. Wyse with its 30 years of experience in cloud client computing is now expanding its portfolio from desktops and laptops to smartphones and tablets.
“As the global leader in cloud client computing, in addition to our market-leading desktop virtualization hardware and software portfolio, now we are 100% focused on providing a comprehensive portfolio of intelligent software solutions to manage, secure and provision mobile users, their content, their apps, their devices and the associated expense, from the cloud. Trellia shares Wyse’s vision and passion in creating a frictionless working experience via the cloud. We will extend the benefits of software as a service (SaaS) to intelligent mobile infrastructure and content management unlike any other vendor in the market,” said Tarkan Maner, President and CEO of Wyse. “Combining the IP innovation, skills, resources, and most importantly our joint maniacal focus on customer advocacy of both companies, Wyse will develop and deliver the most advanced mobile cloud solutions through global partnerships. Our goal is to enable enterprises, service providers and Telco’s to deliver secure infrastructure and content management from the cloud for any user, at home, at work or on-the-go. We are committed to accelerating the fast adoption of cloud client computing, while expanding Wyse’s enterprise-class management, cloud and virtualization software portfolio.”
“Business users are quickly embracing smartphones and tablets and making them one additional window into corporate applications and content; but their IT counterparts must now find tools to effectively secure and manage them,” said Giovanni Forte, CEO at Trellia. “The integration of Trellia with a fast-growing global leader like Wyse will enable organizations to cost effectively deploy and embrace new mobile devices in the enterprise with the highest level of security, all integrated into their current cloud client computing strat
