SMS PASSCODE version 6.2 enhances the user experience and is first to include this with support for Windows8 and Server 2012
SMS PASSCODE A/S – The recognized technology leader in multi-factor authentication for identity protection, today announced the immediate availability of the latest version 6.2 release focused on enhancing the user experience.
With the reputation of being a very user intuitive solution, the need for user experience monitoring has only evolved recently with the arrival of a long series of different authentication clients such as new Citrix Receivers, Cloud Applications, VMware and Citrix VDI support, the modern password reset module and the latest Windows systems. To help IT improve the experience, Version 6.2 but includes a very easy to use yet fully customizable user experience reporting framework as well as major enhancements to the self service functions. Specifically, the new capabilities include the following:
- Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8: Like in the past, we aspire to be fast with platform support as this is a tangible validation of the value of our Software Assurance. So as Microsoft this fall brings out Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 in mainstream availability, version 6.2 now also supports that new platform both as a server and for the different authentication setups (Remote Desktop etc.)
- Advanced User experience and authentication monitoring and reporting is a major new enhancement that will help administrators get a detailed view into the user experience over time. The new monitoring page in the web administration portal allows administrators to inspect past and current authentication attempts on any SMS PASSCODE® protected system. Each attempt is logged with very detailed data (success/failure, when, who, from where, authentication client type, passcode type, OTP target, authentication policy used, etc.) and can easily be exported. This enables IT to pin-point weaknesses in the implementation of remote access solutions and provide knowledge on how to solve them.
- User Lockout Notification and password reset instructions via SMS enables IT to real-time alert users of a lock out and include details on how to reset the password within the lockout notification, thereby dramatically reducing the help desk burden of users being locked out.
- Time Limited Access makes it possible for administrators to define date/time access restrictions for SMS PASSCODE users from within the solution. This has been a strong request from users, as it enables an administrator who would like to give limited time remote access to temporary users such as external consultants, agents and temp staff only during certain time periods such as working hours or for limited period of days.
“As the SMS PASSCODE® platform has matured to a full enterprise class solution supporting all the leading login clients, it has been a natural step for version 6.2 to focus on enhancing the user experience” says Claus Rosendal, CTO and co-founder, SMS PASSCODE. “The new monitoring features, enhancements to our self service functions as well as the enhancements to our password reset module all focus on maintaining our lead in giving users the best possible experience“, he continues.
SMS PASSCODE® is an award winning more secure solution to protect against identity theft. Essentially, once a user accesses a corporate network or application, the user first submits user credentials after which SMS PASSCODE® identifies location information and generates and sends in real-time a one-time-passcode only valid for that login attempt to the user’s mobile device globally via text SMS message, voice call or secure e-mail. This technology-leading platform is an ideal foundation as the company progresses towards a market leader position.
Version 6.2 was released in general availability today. Customers and partners will receive a separate notification with details on upgrading from previous versions.
